Welcome to Haleveda

Haleveda is a place where people come to remember themselves.

Through the guidance of Ayurveda, yoga, and mindful living, we gently support the process of returning to balance—not by overpowering nature, but by remembering that we are part of it.

Set on fertile land in Hawaiʻi, Haleveda is both a clinic and a school: a space where healing and education unfold side by side. Here, consultations, therapies, classes, and quiet moments of reflection all serve the same purpose—to help people reconnect with the deeper intelligence of their own bodies and lives.

For many who arrive, the experience feels less like discovering something new and more like returning to something that has always been there.

The Meaning of the Name

The name Haleveda reflects the meeting of two traditions and the intention behind the space we hold.

In the Hawaiian language, hale refers to a structure or place dedicated to a particular purpose. Traditionally, a hale is more than simply a house—it is a space created and cared for with intention, whether for learning, healing, gathering, or spiritual practice.

Veda is a Sanskrit word meaning knowledge or wisdom, and forms the root of the word Ayurveda, the ancient system of medicine from India that translates as “the knowledge of life.”

Together, Haleveda can be understood as a place dedicated to wisdom—a space where the teachings of Ayurveda are practiced, studied, and shared.

The name also reflects our effort to bring these traditions into respectful relationship with the land and community where we live and work.

Our Vission

The vision of Haleveda is simple, though it continues to unfold over time.

We seek to cultivate a living center where healing, education, and daily life exist in relationship with one another. Rather than separating treatment from learning or philosophy from practice, we aim to create a space where Ayurveda can be experienced as a living tradition.

Here, the teachings are not only studied—they are practiced in the kitchen, in the garden, in the clinic, and in the rhythms of everyday life.

Over time, we hope this work will continue to grow into a model of heart-centered, sustainable care: a place where people can receive thoughtful treatment, study the wisdom of Ayurveda, and experience what it means to live more fully in alignment with nature.

Our Mission

At the heart of Haleveda is a commitment to supporting healing, education, and self-understanding through the wisdom of Ayurveda.

This work is guided by a few simple principles.

We honor the integrity of tradition, studying and practicing Ayurveda with respect for the classical teachings that have carried this knowledge through generations.

We believe in relational care, recognizing that healing unfolds through trust, listening, and the ongoing relationship between practitioner and client.

We value embodied learning, understanding that true knowledge grows through practice, observation, and lived experience.

And we approach our work with humility and stewardship, mindful of the land, cultures, and communities that hold the context for this work.

Our Mission & Values

Living Lineage
We honor Ayurveda as an unbroken, living tradition. Our teachings and clinical practices are rooted in classical wisdom, carried forward through direct study with our teachers, ongoing practice, and lived devotion. We strive to preserve depth and integrity while allowing the medicine to remain relevant and alive.

Relationship-Centered Care
Healing happens in relationship—with practitioners, teachers, the body, the land, and community. We prioritize presence, listening, and trust, offering care and education that is personal, respectful, and responsive rather than transactional.

Embodied Learning
We believe Ayurveda is best learned through experience. Our educational offerings emphasize hands-on practice, self-inquiry, and integration, supporting students not just to know Ayurveda, but to live it.

Reverence for Nature & Place
We practice in humility alongside the land of Hawaiʻi, honoring natural rhythms, ecological responsibility, and the wisdom of living systems. We seek to live and teach in a way that remembers we are part of nature—not separate from it.

Integrity & Simplicity
We value depth over excess, quality over scale, and clarity over complexity. Our offerings are intentionally designed to support genuine transformation, without over-promising or over-extending.

Service & Accessibility
At the heart of our work is service. We are committed to making holistic care and education more accessible through thoughtful programming, community offerings, and a spirit of generosity—meeting people where they are with respect and care.

Hale Veda affectionaly referd to as The Ayurveda Hale

Haleveda exists within a container that has grown gradually over time.

Since coming together as partners in life and practice, we have always shaped the places we live into spaces where healing and learning could take place. Wherever we have been, people have gathered—seeking consultations, treatments, guidance, or simply a place to sit and reflect.

Today, Haleveda is held within a plantation-style home on fertile land in Hawaiʻi, between the two rivers that give Wailua its name. The land itself often becomes part of the experience; many visitors remark on the sense of calm and nourishment they feel as soon as they arrive.

While this is the home where we live, the majority of the space is dedicated to the work of the clinic and school. Treatment rooms, consultation spaces, and areas for study and practice are woven naturally into the home, allowing healing, learning, and daily life to exist side by side.

Workshops may gather on the lanai, classes unfold in the living room, and the kitchen becomes a place where food and medicine are prepared with care.

In this way, Haleveda continues to serve as a living demonstration of what it means to practice Ayurveda not only as a therapy, but as a way of life.

Our Approach to Healing & Education

At Haleveda, Ayurveda is not something we simply offer—it is something we continue to study, practice, and live ourselves.

Our work is rooted in the teachings of Dr. Vasant Lad, whose lineage has helped bring the classical wisdom of Ayurveda into contemporary practice. From this foundation, we continue to deepen our understanding through direct experience with clients, students, and the unfolding patterns of life.

Healing is approached with patience and individuality. Each person who arrives carries a unique constitution, life history, and pattern of imbalance. Rather than applying standardized protocols, we listen carefully—to the pulse, to the body, and to the story each person brings.

Education follows the same philosophy.

Students learn not only through lectures and texts, but through observation, hands-on practice, clinical discussion, and participation in the daily rhythms of Ayurvedic living. This approach allows the teachings to move beyond theory and become something that can be felt, practiced, and integrated.

Because of this, Haleveda is neither a spa nor a large institutional school. The work unfolds in smaller, more personal containers where mentorship, dialogue, and careful guidance can take place.

Clinical work informs the classroom, and teaching deepens the practice of healing.

The People of HaleVeda

Haleveda is held by a small community of practitioners, teachers, and supporters who share a commitment to thoughtful care and meaningful learning.

Founders & Directors

Haleveda was founded by husband-and-wife partners whose shared path of study and practice gradually gave rise to this work.

Together, they bring backgrounds in Ayurvedic medicine, therapeutic bodywork, yoga, and education. Their approach has been shaped by years of study, clinical practice, and mentorship, as well as the ongoing experience of integrating these teachings into daily life.

Rather than building a large institution, they have chosen to cultivate a smaller and more relational environment where healing and education can unfold with care and attention.

Practitioners & Therapists

The therapeutic work of Haleveda is supported by practitioners trained in Ayurvedic and complementary healing modalities. Each practitioner brings their own perspective and strengths while working within the shared philosophy of individualized care and respect for the body’s natural intelligence.

Teachers & Faculty

Our teachers are practitioners who bring both knowledge and lived experience into the classroom. Courses emphasize practical understanding, hands-on learning, and the cultivation of clinical awareness so that students can carry these teachings into their own lives and work.

Operations & Administration

Behind the scenes, a small team supports the day-to-day operations that keep Haleveda running smoothly. Their care ensures that communication, scheduling, and the practical aspects of the center remain steady so that practitioners and students can focus on the work of healing and learning.

Community & Lineage

No tradition exists in isolation.

The work of Haleveda is deeply influenced by the teachers, communities, and lineages that have shaped our understanding of Ayurveda and yoga.

We are especially grateful for the teachings of Dr. Vasant Lad and the broader community of practitioners who continue to carry forward the wisdom of Ayurveda with integrity and care.

Living and working in Hawaiʻi also invites an ongoing awareness of the cultural and ecological context in which this work takes place. We approach our presence here with humility and with respect for the traditions of knowledge held within Hawaiian culture and the land itself.

Who We Serve

Haleveda welcomes a diverse community of people who are drawn to Ayurveda in many different ways.

Some arrive seeking support for specific health concerns or guidance in restoring balance to their lives. Others come to study the teachings of Ayurveda more deeply, either for personal growth or professional development.

We work with individuals seeking personalized consultations and therapies, students exploring the study of Ayurveda and related healing arts, practitioners wishing to deepen their clinical understanding, and community members simply curious about living with greater awareness and balance.

Whether someone comes for healing, education, or curiosity, our hope is that they leave with a deeper understanding of themselves and a renewed relationship with the wisdom of life.

Haleveda continues to grow as a living center for healing, education, and community. We are grateful to all those who walk through its doors and become part of its unfolding story.
